You will be part of a regional team within Te Mahau, and working closely with your sector to support:Taking practical action to give effect to te Tiriti o Waitangi.Giving priority to regional and local voice.Delivering greater responsiveness, accessibility and integrated services and support.Improving feedback loops and information flows.The Curriculum Adviser service is a frontline support that works closely with teachers and kaiako to assist with the designing of engaging and responsive curriculum learning that ensures national learning priorities are experienced by every akonga or learner enabling them to see their cultures, languages, and identities reflected in their learning.The existing Curriculum Adviser service was established through the Wellbeing 2020 budget to ensure every akonga or learner experiences well designed curriculum which engages learners, promotes progress, and fosters their wellbeing. The Curriculum Adviser service is being extended to strengthen the existing service, to aid education sector leaders, kaiako and teachers to implement the changes associated with the curriculum refresh and the connection between wellbeing, te reo matatini me te pangarau, literacy & communication and maths learning outcomes. These positions will support the implementation of the Literacy & Communication and Maths strategy and Hei Raukura Mo te Mokopuna.Salary range: $99,496 - $120,690 per annum + 3% KiwiSaver. Please state your area of expertise in your application.Proven credibility with the education sector and confidence in implementing literacy & communication or maths teaching (primary) or te reo matatini or pangarau teaching (kaupapa Maori or Maori medium) is essential for this role.Extensive knowledge and experience in NZC and/or Te Marautanga o Aotearoa, teaching and learning, assessment theory and practice, with an ability to support professional change in education settings.The ability to confidently use Maori bodies of knowledge and experience to inform and improve the design of curriculum, including the championing of Mana Orite mo te matauranga Maori.Familiarity with te ao Maori and understanding of Te Reo, tikanga and matauranga Maori, critical for Curriculum Advisers working in kaupapa Maori and Maori medium.Extensive knowledge and understanding of education contexts at a practical level.Strong diplomacy, interpersonal and facilitation skills, with an ability to adapt to different interaction styles and contexts.Skills in leading and motivating others, with the ability to challenge, facilitate, supervise, and coach, kaiako and teachers to build capability, and where necessary, for change.Proven experience of supporting education settings to build and maintain educationally powerful, reciprocal, and trusting relationships with Maori whanau, hapu and iwi, Pacific, and other communities.The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.This is an exciting opportunity to join our Whangarei team and make a real difference to the wellbeing of children and young people.As part of this role, you will be required to travel domestically with the possibility of overnight stays.
