We have an incredible opportunity to join our amazing team at the Waikato Museum Te Whare Taonga o Waikato. We are looking for an experienced Curator with energy, passion, and curiosity. What will you be a part of? Waikato Museum has four main collecting areas – taonga Maaori, social history, art and science. Our exhibitions and programmes are focused on these and the development of cross-disciplinary experiences. The team at Waikato Museum are committed to developing, caring for and sharing collections, enhancing the visitor experience, and lifting engagement with communities. As a Curator you will need to demonstrate curiosity and creativity by developing novel, diverse, and innovative concepts for exhibitions that grab the attention, bring in new audiences, and add to the reputation and mana of the Waikato Museum. This role is for you if: You have a strong track record in exhibition ideation, development, and publication. You know the value in engaging audiences through the agency of collections. You enjoy working as part of a team, but also can work independently. You have a passion for sharing, translating, and unlocking knowledge. You love having variety in your work. For this role it is preferred that you have: Experience working with collections in one of the following collection areas: taonga Maaori, social history and/or visual art. Tertiary qualification in a relevant field, a master's degree or post graduate professional qualification is preferred. Knowledge of and commitment to museum codes of ethics and professional practice. A minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar curatorial role in a museum, art gallery, or similar environment. Expertise in research, evidence of strong networks and collaborative partnerships at a local, national, and international levels. What is in it for you?
