We manage infrastructure, environmental conservation, community development, and regulatory services, responding to thousands of community interactions each year while proactively addressing local needs and challenges.In this key role, you will take charge of curating and managing exhibitions, driving operational excellence within the museum, and promoting community engagement.
You will oversee both digital and physical collections, ensure the delivery of exhibitions, and work collaboratively across teams to enhance Waitaki Museum's programmes and align them with the broader organisational goals.
Your responsibilities will include managing museum policies, records, and acquisitions, ensuring best practices, and fostering partnerships with local and national institutions.He aha taau e kawe mai | What you'll bringRelevant Qualifications and Experience: Post-graduate qualification in museum studies, with at least two years of experience in a museum or similar institution.
A strong background in New Zealand history, social history, and exhibition programming is essential.Operational Leadership and Collection Management: Expertise in collection management policies and procedures, with experience handling objects and overseeing museum collections.Collaborative and Customer-Centric Approach: Proven ability to work across teams, build strong partnerships, and maintain a customer-focused ethos to deliver high-quality cultural experiences.Full NZ Driver's Licence and Firearms Licence (ideally).WDC is committed to continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration, striving to be a leading council that makes Waitaki a better place to live, work, and visit.
