The Cultural Liaison Officer plays a crucial role in fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for students, staff, and the school community. This role focuses on bridging cultural gaps, promoting understanding, and ensuring that the diverse cultural backgrounds of students are respected and celebrated within the school setting. The officer will work closely with students, teachers, parents, and community organizations to enhance cultural awareness, support student wellbeing, and improve educational outcomes.This role is permanent full time. A mutually suitable start date will be negotiated with the successful candidate.Employee BenefitsTraining and Professional development commitmentCareer progression and internal transfer opportunitiesEmployee Assistance ProgramDesired Skills and ExperienceAbout you...A background in education, social sciences, cultural studies, or a related field.Must be able to meet the Safety Check requirements as specified in the Children's Act 2014, including regular Police vetting.Ideally holding a full driver's licenseAbility to obtain a National Police Check with no disclosable outcomesEffective interpersonal skills as evidenced by the ability to build successful relationships with internal and external stakeholdersPrevious experience in a school setting, community engagement, or cultural liaison work.Proficient in Te Reo Maori and/or Pasifika languages.Strong understanding of New Zealand's diverse cultures, including Maori and Pacific Island history and customs.Next stepsThis role will actively commence recruitment from the date of advertisement.
