Crèche Manager/Head Teacher Summary We are seeking a passionate and experienced early childhood educator to lead Highland Park Community Crèche as the Crèche Manager/Head Teacher. This is a unique opportunity to make a difference in a long-standing, low child-teacher ratio crèche that is deeply connected to its community. In this role, you will lead a team of experienced and dedicated staff to foster a nurturing and stimulating environment for our tamariki. Start date: 20th January 2025 (with some handover in December 2024) Key responsibilities Childcare service delivery Deliver a service that meets the Ministry of Education standards of quality and care in consultation with the Highland Park Community Crèche Management Committee. Ensure all areas of the crèche are adequately supervised at all times. Maintain a safe and healthy environment for children, overseeing daily health and safety checks, and reporting any concerns to staff, the Management Committee, or to Highland Park Community House (property manager). Oversee safety, hygiene, and equipment maintenance requirement compliance. Regularly review the crèche's philosophy, policies, and programmes in collaboration with the staff and the Management Committee. Holds the license to operate the crèche. Staff management Responsible to the Management Committee for all matters related to staff and relievers. Roster management. Provision of on-the-job training, guidance, and support. Conduct staff inductions and performance monitoring. Annual collaboration with staff on the Professional Growth Cycle plan, which includes professional development opportunities and forms a basis for staff appraisal. Administration Maintain accurate roll and attendance records. Manage enrolments and waitlists. Handle weekly invoicing of accounts and banking. Maintain record keeping and observations as required by the Ministry of Education and Education Review Office. Oversee administrative systems. Management Committee reporting, including: preparing a monthly operational report and attending and presenting at the monthly Management Committee meetings on roll numbers, waitlist, financial matters (e.g., bad debts), and regulatory and legal obligations. External communication Prepare necessary reports for and attend meetings with the Education Review Office. Support and maintain communication with parents/caregivers and other agencies. Maintain a good rapport with the Highland Park Community House staff and management. Qualifications A minimum qualification of a Teaching Diploma ECE or above (e.g., Bachelor of Education ECE). Current Teacher Registration and Practising Certificate. First Aid Certificate.
