Counsellor | Flexible Office Location - New Zealand Can be worked from any of Te Kura office locations: Auckland, Wairoa, Hamilton, Gisborne, Bay of Plenty, Hawkes Bay, Palmerston North, New Plymouth, Wellington, Nelson, Dunedin, Invercargill, Christchurch, or Queenstown. Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu (Te Kura) is New Zealand's largest school. We provide personalised and authentic learning programmes through distance education from early childhood level to NCEA Level 3, including to young adult and adult learners

E pa ana ki te tima | About the Counselling team We have three Counsellors located across Aotearoa. The Counselling team works dynamically to provide a specialist online service for referred akonga throughout Aotearoa and works collaboratively with regional teams to provide some guidance to Kaimanaaki supporting these akonga. We prioritise access to our Counselling service for akonga who enrol through the full-time At-risk gateways.
As a Counsellor at Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu (Te Kura) you will support the wellbeing of akonga (students) and whanau (family). This involves assisting akonga in returning to a sense of wellness and helping akonga to maintain readiness to learn by providing a confidential non-urgent online counselling service to akonga who have been referred by their kaimanaaki ¦learning advisor.
To be successful in this role you will need be a qualified counsellor who cares about improving akonga wellbeing, who is culturally responsive and keen on enhancing counselling practice for our school.
All Te Kura Counsellors must be a member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors and receive regular professional supervision.
