In return for their contribution, we offer kaimahi a range of benefits including:About the roleWe are looking for a Cook (Kaitautoko) – Early Learning Centre to join us at our (Whare Amai Puna Reo) on a permanent, part time (20 hours per week) basis based in Gisborne.As our Cook, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our Tamariki receive nutritious, well-balanced meals that support their growth and development. You will be responsible for planning and preparing morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea, following food safety regulations, and maintaining a clean and organised kitchen.At times, you may be required to provide additional support on the floor to maintain staff-to-child ratios and ensure a safe and engaging learning environment.About you – You'll have:A Certificate in Food and Beverage Service (Level 3) or related field.A Food Safety Certificate.A sound understanding of nutritional needs for Tamariki ages 3 months to 5 years old.The ability to cook 30-50 child portion meals and snacks daily.Knowledge of the Food Act 2014 and National Programme 2.A Full NZ Drivers' License (Class 1).A sound understanding of te reo Maori phrases, mihi and greetings, and Maori values, culture, and tikanga, would be advantageous.This role is classified as a Core Worker and will need to pass a safety check under the Children's Act 2014.The ability to lift, bend and stand for long periods of time.As a kaupapa Maori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Ahuatanga Maori (values, culture and tikanga) is desirable.Apply today!Have we outlined a role that matches your capabilities and aspirations, and a workplace that appeals?
