We are looking for a 2 X experienced Indian Cook (Curry and Tandoor) for a busy Indian Restaurant at Wanganui. The position is full time. We guarantee you a minimum of 30 hours per week with a pay rate between $31.66 - $32p/h. You will be working as per the roster hence flexibility is essential in this role. The person needs to be experienced in cooking Curries and Tandoori dishes. Also, to have the knowledge of other Indian traditional and Ethnic dishes and Indo-Chinese dishes will be an advantage. Job Responsibilities: Preparing and cooking Indian food, Ala-Carte dishes. Should be able to cook traditional Indian cuisines independently. Monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation. Planning menus, estimating food and labour costs. Ordering food supplies. Discussing food preparation issues with Managers and Owner. Demonstrating the techniques and advising on cooking procedures. Explaining and enforcing the hygiene regulations. Select and train staff if required. Freeze and preserve foods if required. Follow the maintenance and health and safety issues and meet hygiene standards. Minimum Requirements: At least 3 years of work experience in Indian kitchen specially with Tandoori and Curry dishes. Capable of working in a busy environment and knowledge of Indian Cuisine. Qualification in food and safety would be an advantage. Be flexible to work daily split shifts (Lunch & dinner) and weekends. Experienced in taking full control in running the kitchen.
