Want to prepare delicious meals using some of the best organic ingredients? This is your opportunity to join our Food Services Team! The ideal candidate would have some experience both as a Prep Cook and a Hotside Cook. This position is for 40 hours a week, weekend and weekday availability required. SKILLS + QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum 2 years' experience in all aspects of high-volume food production Journeyperson designation an asset Strong knife skills and experience with commercial food production equipment Ability to produce a diverse menu from all cultures and dietary restrictions Employ skills of the "Garde a manger" in all aspects of preparation Excellent interpersonal skills and cooperative, respectful communication skills Ability to perform well under production deadlines Impeccable attendance & punctuality; ability to clock-in/out accurately Must be Food Safe Level 1 certified Passion for cooking DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES: Execute the menu plan prepared by the Manager for all hot programs, including roast chickens, frozen entrees, and frozen soups Prepare cooked components for other programs (e.g. protein for salads, wraps, burritos) Responsible for ensuring consistent high quality of food preparation and service Safely and proficiently use all commercial food production equipment Participate in generating order lists for ingredients, and prep lists for prep cooks in cooperation with the Hot Side Lead Ensure sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen and service areas Ensure compliance with operational standards, co-op policies, and provincial health regulations Direct and instruct prep staff as needed Always maintain professional conduct including kitchen cleanliness, proper uniforms, and appearance standards Respond to customer complaints, taking appropriate actions to remedy the situation or engage supervisor for assistance as needed Co-ordinate use of hot production equipment with other kitchen programs Participate in recipe development as needed Other duties and fill-in as required This position is for 40 hours per week.
