About the team
Within our Information Services & Technology (IST) Division, the Real-Time Systems Team integrates and interfaces various systems in the field to deliver accurate and reliable operational data to enable the operation of the National Grid. Their work includes:

Configuration and operation of substation automation systems (SAS), human machine interfaces (HMI).
Creation of new SCADA / EMS sites, including commissioning and point-to-point testing.
Configuring of Remote Engineering Access (REA) to Intelligent Electronic Devices (IED) located at over 170 substations nationwide.
Providing engineering support and technical advice to project teams and engineering groups around Substation Automation and Control Systems.
Investigating the application of new equipment and technology solutions.
Validation and ongoing management of telemetry and data extracted from remote systems.

About the opportunity
Based in our Hamilton or Wellington office, being part of the Real-Time Systems Team, you will be involved with the configuration and modelling of RTUs, HMIs, and SCADA EMS databases/displays which represent the transmission grid.
You will be testing and integrating new substation automation equipment to meet Transpower's Standards, wiring up and maintaining equipment in an extensive engineering environment, and fault finding on our Substation Automation Systems and/or SCADA /EMS. You'll work collaboratively to further enhance our automation journey to drive more efficient delivery of projects.

So, what will you bring?
To be considered, your CV and cover letter will demonstrate a relevant qualification and:

Working knowledge of automation and control systems, their architectures, and integration of devices into operational technology (OT) environments.
The ability to produce sound technical and analytical reports, including process designs, problem analysis, technical guides, and procedures.
Sound digital literacy and the ability to learn and use vendor specific software applications (e.g. EATON SMP Manager).
Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.

While not essential, experience/skills in any of the following areas will be well regarded:

GE/Alstom e-terra suite of products e.g. e-terra platform / habitat / control / e-terraSource / browser / FG Display Builder, and OAG.
Eaton SMP Gateways.
Ability to model control systems, test, and interpret results.
Knowledge of SCADA and real-time applications within an environment with safety as an imperative.
