What does SCH actually do?
Primarily across the Bay of Plenty, SCH manages hundreds of hectares of Gold, Red, and Green kiwifruit. This includes managing the spray program year-round as well as a huge number of machinery activities on the orchard!

About the role
We don't necessarily need you to have experience in the kiwifruit industry - this is a pretty niche area! However, having worked with spray programs and machinery in some form of agricultural context is important.
Reporting to the Contracting Business Manager, you'll take the lead of all spraying and machinery operations across approx. 250 hectares of Kiwifruit orchards in the Pukehina area (not far from Tauranga, Te Puke, or Whakatane).
There are a number of elements to carrying out this role to the SCH standard, including:
Liaising with Orchard Managers: You'll be planning an effective workflow to ensure people and machinery are in the right place at the right time and orchard managers are well looked after.Ordering and Stock Management: You'll be managing upcoming requirements and ensuring there is always sufficient stock of the required products. You'll pay close attention to the controls in place to ensure the right products are sprayed every time.Administration: You'll ensure job sheets are completed and accurate, draft invoices every week, and manage inventory.Maintenance and Leadership: You'll ensure machinery is well maintained and manage the relationship with service providers.What you can expect A competitive base salary & vehicle. You understand spraying and machinery: While kiwifruit experience is not required, you will have worked with spraying or very similar work, as well as being knowledgeable around machinery generally.You aren't afraid of getting on the tools: This role is somewhat hybrid. While there is plenty of work to do, there are also times where the best use of your time will be on some machinery doing the work.You are a problem solver: Managing the requirements of multiple passionate orchard managers and limited resources means you'll need to think on your feet. You'll plan well, but when that fails you'll ensure everyone feels well served at the end of the day.You are continually developing: You're personally driven to learn and improve. You find ways to continually improve yourself so you can bring even more value to the people around you.You are a Leader: You enjoy mentoring those more junior than you. You have a knack for leading.
