The water and waste team work to ensure the provision of infrastructure and services are fit for purpose for current and future community needs.Operation and maintenance (O&M) is delivered by external contractors with technical oversight. The water and waste team are also responsible for managing the capital works design and procurement with the assistance of engineering consultants where required.As a contract engineer, you will be providing oversight of the operations and maintenance to ensure contracts are delivered, key performance indicators are met, and administrative functions are completed on time and to budget.To be successful in this role you will need:a tertiary qualification in civil engineeringthree years relevant experience in the operations and contracting environmentknowledge of water supply, wastewater, and stormwater reticulation and treatmentfinancial/budget management experiencehigh level of customer service care and ethicsA relevant qualification in water/wastewater treatment would be an advantage.About Council:With 11% of the total land area of New Zealand, including Fiordland National Park and Stewart Island Rakiura, Southland District Council has the largest land area to manage of any territorial authority.
