We have an opportunity for an experienced Contract Engineer to join our Ruapehu Operations team. The purpose of this role is to provide Technical/Engineering solutions in the renewals and improvement space for municipal water clients, supporting capital project teams across Veolia's contracts and driving excellence in water infrastructure projects.
What's on offerA great team-working environmentEmployee assistance programs (EAP) through assure which covers mental health, nutrition, financial, legal, coaching and career transition supportOpportunities for professional growth and developmentStable employment with a reputable organisationMeaningful work that contributes to the well-being of our communityWhat you'll be responsible forSupport capital project teams across various contracts, providing engineering expertise for renewals and improvements in municipal water systems.Oversee and support project delivery, ensuring adherence to Veolia's Assurance Delivery Framework, and alignment with organisational goals and client requirements.Conduct estimation, engineering concepts, and capital works delivery according to Veolia contractual and client needs, with a primary focus on Three Waters works.Develop and implement innovative technical solutions to address client needs and improve water infrastructure.Occasionally be seconded to local teams, adapting to different work environments and team dynamics.Travel to various project sites as required, maintaining a flexible approach to work locations.Engage directly with clients, representing Veolia in a professional manner and maintaining strong client relationships.Collaborate with internal teams to ensure project delivery aligns with Veolia's standards and client expectations.Contribute to the preparation of proposals, reports, and technical documentation for capital works projects.Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in municipal water engineering.Participate in project planning, risk assessments, and quality control processes.Support the continuous improvement of Veolia's engineering practices and methodologies in the capital works space.Provide project management and delivery assurance support for Veolia's O&M capital works across national operations.What you'll need to be successfulQualifications / Experience / Licences: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Process preferred)Professional Engineering licence or ability to obtain oneDemonstrable experience in water infrastructure projects, particularly in renewals and improvementsKnowledge of municipal water systems, regulations, and industry standardsProject management experience, including budget and timeline managementUnderstanding of project delivery frameworks and assurance processesAlong with strong problem-solving and analytical skills, you have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and the ability to work effectively in teams and independently when required. You are self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
Travel to various locations will be required, so you have the willingness and ability to travel as needed. Knowledge of equipment operations and maintenance is desirable and experience with public sector clients is advantageous. Ideally, you will have familiarity with three waters infrastructure and related projects.
