About the team | Ko te ropu nei Christchurch City Libraries is New Zealand's second largest public library service. Highly valued by the community, it enjoys a proud history and reputation for innovation and excellence in library and knowledge services. The library network comprises twenty physical libraries, a mobile service and a digital library. Opened in later 2018, Turanga is the city's flagship central library and destination for creativity, learning and leisure activities.
About the role | Ko te mahi nei We are looking for a dynamic and experienced senior library leader to take the helm of Library Content Services. In this role you will be responsible for leading the strategic development of Christchurch City Libraries' collections in all formats, including print and digital.
You will also be responsible for leading:
A team of 4 direct and 40 indirect reportsThe design and implementation of effective library policies for collection development, preservation, copyright and rights management.The development of digital content, including the digitisation programme, for all libraries, and will oversee bindery and courier services for the network of libraries.To be successful in this role, you will have proven skills and experience in:
Planning and delivering collection services in a larger scale public library and information environmentManagement of digital resources and websites within a library and information environmentRelationship building and successful collaboration through partnershipsBusiness and financial management acumenDeveloping and implementing policies and operational business plansFostering a team culture of achievement and continuous learningIf you're looking for a role that allows you to demonstrate your energy and commitment to libraries, join us and make a difference in people's lives.

Hours of work – Monday to Friday 40 hours per week
Position – Permanent Fulltime
Location– This position is primarily based at 180 Smith Street, Linwood
Salary– The salary band for this position goes from $141,251 – $156,946 per annum based on a 40-hour week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
