Job Description - Consultant Psychiatrist, Te Ara Maioha 1.0 FTE (3 positions available) (HAU01088) Te Whatu Ora Tairawhiti Mental Health and Addiction Services, Te Ara Maioha, have several opportunities to either explore specialties or generalist Consultant Psychiatry in General Adult, Mental Health Services for Older People, and Infant, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Days and hours can be negotiated.
Due to new funding allocated to the Tairawhiti region for the development of new service models and facilities that will better provide for the needs of the local community, now is the time to be part of shaping service delivery. There is a focus on co-design and strong community engagement in addressing inequalities for Maori.
The successful applicant will have diverse clinical work and will experience rewarding and unique collaborations engaging Maori communities. There is an opportunity to work creatively to achieve positive outcomes for whanau. Professional relationships are strong and collegial. There is a commitment to excellence in practice, professional development, and opportunities for research. This role will suit a psychiatrist who has the energy to tackle inequities, a desire to engage in service development, and the motivation to make a difference within our community.
Generalist psychiatrist skills are required as participation in an after-hours on-call roster is necessary. The after-hours roster is well supported by skilled and experienced front-line clinical staff who work with a cultural team.
Minimum Requirements: Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry or equivalentRegistered or eligible for vocational registration in Psychiatry with the Medical Council of New ZealandSkills and Experience: Broad clinical experienceSpecialist knowledge and broad clinical experience of Mental Health Services for Older People and General Adult psychiatryThe ability to work professionally and effectively as part of a multidisciplinary teamCommitment to quality and safety in clinical practiceHave a current driver's licence valid in New ZealandSituated on the eastern coast of New Zealand's North Island, Gisborne "Tairawhiti" – "The light shines on the water" is the first city in the world to see the rising sun of the new day.
