Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua MidCentral (MidCentral) is part of Te Whatu Ora, Health New Zealand and provides healthcare services to over 180,000 people across the Manawatu, Horowhenua and Tararua regions.
With a large hospital campus in Palmerston North, it also provides key health care and support services to neighbouring communities.
Te Uru Ruahi, Mental Health & Addiction Services (MHAS) is building a strong team of psychiatrists who are keen to make a difference in our community and bring their specialist skills to Te Whatu Ora Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua (MidCentral).

About our service:
MHAS is responsible for the commissioning and delivery of primary, specialist, and community mental health & addiction services across a diverse urban and rural population of 186,000.
We provide treatment for and connection to recovery-oriented services for individuals experiencing mental illness or addiction issues.
Services are delivered across the continuum of lifespan, both regionally and locally, and include specialist community MH&A teams, kaupapa (Maori), Child Adolescent Mental Health Services, inpatient services, crisis response, acute alternatives, specialist primary mental health service, consultation-liaison MH, and specially designed residential programmes.
MHAS has embarked on a programme of transformational change for adult and crisis services, which sees a fundamental shift in the way services are delivered.
The change sees significant investment into digital technologies and new infrastructure including the construction of a new greenfield state-of-the-art acute inpatient unit.
We have dedicated teams in the following areas:

Child and adolescent
Adult community
Acute inpatient
Specialist old age
Alcohol and other drug service including an OST service
Intensive community rehabilitation
Specialist Maori mental health (Oranga Hinengaro)
