Mo te turanga - About the role
As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will work within a small multi-disciplinary team responsible for the psychiatric assessment and care of patients. You will take a leading role in maintaining and enhancing our Mental Health service. Your responsibilities will include assessment and treatment of older persons while collaborating with the primary health sector consistent with Southern's values. You will also contribute to ongoing service improvement and workforce innovation. Participation on the on-call roster is required, currently at 1:18.
Mou ake - About you
Fellowship with the RANZCP or the equivalent is essential, and ideally, you will have current registration with the NZ Medical Council. You will have a personal commitment to maintaining high standards of practice and an unequivocal dedication to working as part of a team. Clinical leadership and reliable medical input to the multi-disciplinary team are pivotal to the position. A strong commitment to service user and family/whanau inclusion in service delivery and a focus on recovery is required, along with a sound understanding and commitment to biculturalism. A demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development and providing training to students at all levels is also necessary.
We welcome applications from Advanced Trainees who are about to complete their final six months of training as a fellow with supervision or Psychiatrists interested in advanced training.

Utu whanui - Salary range
This role belongs to the 2024 ASMS Collective Agreement and falls between Step 1 ($185,380) and Step 15 ($267,980 p.a prorata).
