Lakes are excited to announce a new position for an Adult Hospital Consult Liaison Psychiatrist. This is an opportunity to join a passionate team who places great value on putting people first, embedding Te Ao Maori in every-day practice, leading with kindness and achieving excellence through close partnership with our medical partners.
We have a flexible structure whereby the role will be based with the Acute Response / Home Based Treatment Team (ART/HBT) and Consult Liaison Clinicians. There may be a rotation to in-patient or other community positions over time. The role is based in Rotorua but could involve some in-reach to the satellite hospital in Taupo.
We are embedding our new model of care Te Ara Tauwhirotanga: pathways that lead us to act with kindness. Te Ara Tauwhirotanga is the product of extensive co-design with over 400 participants from the Lakes DHB community, a model that clearly articulates what works for people in their recovery and healing journey.
The successful candidate will have:

A broad range of general psychiatric skills
Hold or be eligible for Vocational Registration with Medical Council of NZ
Enjoy teaching – Rotorua is a teaching hospital with 4th, 5th and 6th year medical students as well as registrars training for fellowship with the RANZCP
Offer senior advice and support in the assessment and diagnosis of presenting conditions to General Medicine team.
