The purpose-built facility includes a seven bed ED and 17 Bed inpatient ward (Medical and AT&R). The Hawera Emergency Department provides a 24-hour service for the 30,000 population of South Taranaki and sees approximately 15,000 patients per year. The Hospital has a well-equipped laboratory service and a brand new Siemens machine in the radiology department. In addition, the ED has a state-of-the-art Sonosite LX USS machine available for clinician-performed ultrasounds. We are seeking rural, community-minded doctors to be part of Te Whatu Ora Taranaki's vision of a fit for purpose integrated primary and secondary health service in the established Hawera Hospital. If you want to work as a Generalist within the Rural Hospital Medicine scope of practice, in a modern innovative environment this could be what you are looking for! We are looking to grow our team of open-minded and progressive doctors where you will join a supportive team providing world-class medical services and comprehensive community care at a level 3 rural hospital. We need practitioners who can use their varied and broad generalist knowledge and experience to diagnose and treat patients in either a primary care and/or secondary care high acuity setting with opportunities to follow your patients admitted to the inpatient ward. Mou - About you You will: Be part of an experienced interdisciplinary team of medical professionals; Work in an accredited Rural Hospital with RHM trainees; Serve a population in need and design systems with a focus on health equity; Work in an integrated way alongside secondary and tertiary services; Be supported by a progressive, friendly organisation; Work in an innovative primary care service; Contribute to future workforce with teaching medical students, opportunities to have honorary lecturer privileges.
