Korero mo te turanga - About the role
Health New Zealand Wairarapa requires Specialist Obstetrician & Gynaecologists to provide obstetrics and gynaecology care for the Wairarapa region. This is an opportunity for clinicians interested in providing a general obstetrics and gynaecology service for a well-defined community within one of New Zealand's most attractive areas.
These positions are located at Wairarapa Hospital, where gynaecology and secondary level obstetric services are provided. There is an average of 600 births per annum. Tertiary hospital services, including delivery of premature labours below 34 weeks, are provided by Wellington hospital.
Whilst the Gynaecology service is general in nature, there may be the opportunity to develop special areas of interest. There is the opportunity to develop a private practice in the co-located private Selina Sutherland Hospital.
There are full-time or part-time positions, with a 1 : 5 on-call cover. Innovative rostering options can be developed to suit individual preferences whilst maintaining the requisite level of cover.
Preference will be given to applicants who already hold Vocational Registration; however, applicants must be eligible to apply for Vocational Registration with the New Zealand Medical Council.

Te Whatu Ora Wairarapa provides secondary services for a population of approximately 50,000, providing 24-hour acute and elective care in general and orthopaedic surgery, medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, ophthalmology, psychiatry, and paediatrics.
Mou - About you
The appointees will be registered as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Council of New Zealand or eligible for registration with the Medical Council to enable them to practice medicine within New Zealand. The employee will hold a higher qualification appropriate to the practice of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. This qualification must be recognised by the Medical Council of New Zealand for vocational scope registration.
Have at least two years post-graduate obstetrics and gynaecology specialty experience. Have experience and confidence with both colposcopy and obstetric ultrasound scanning.
