Do you like variety in your forecasting work, have a can-do mindset, and want to be part of the NZ Consultancy team? This might be the role for you. This role can work from either Tamaki Makaurau (Auckland) or Te-Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington).
Key accountabilities of the role are: Produce accurate and timely weather forecasts to fulfil client-specific contracts and provide flexible, on-demand, and specific forecast services for clients.
Provide effective and credible operational decision support in collaboration with other MetService teams during impactful weather events.
Support the Customer and Commercial team by providing advice and customer training and by preparing and delivering presentations.
Minimum Requirements: You will hold an appropriate university degree and meteorological training, to WMO Meteorologist standard.
Marine and Aviation forecast experience essential, Lead or Expert forecast experience desirable.
Excellent understanding of modern meteorological theory and weather forecasting practice.
Experience in managing complex situations which involve pressure and competing deadlines.
A "client first" mindset with a focus on successful customer outcomes and a thorough understanding of customer needs and ability to lead and influence a diverse range of stakeholders across all levels of an organisation.
Ability to appropriately prioritise and work to set timeframes and deadlines.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to credibly represent our forecasts and products nationally or internationally, and through customer liaison and/or media.
Ability to develop "Proof and Concept" client products and services.
Flexible, agile, and consultative in your approach.
