When you choose to work with us, we will offer you: A comprehensive orientation and induction to our organisation and your department Access to clinical training and education Up to date facilities Opportunities to participate in local project and regional collaboration teams Professional development Korero mo te turanga - About the role Seeking Geriatrician / Internal Medicine Consultant with Rehab Interest Taranaki Base Hospital, situated in New Plymouth, is a progressive regional secondary referral centre for the province of Taranaki with a wide range of medical specialties, a well-equipped Radiology Department providing both diagnostic and interventional radiology and an excellent Laboratory Service.
There are a number of visiting specialist services, including neurology, neurosurgery, oncology and haematology, and strong links to tertiary hospitals throughout the North Island.
The Older Peoples Health and Rehabilitation Service provides inpatient, outpatient and community care to the older population of Taranaki as well as to some younger people with age-related conditions and rehabilitation needs.
The service also provides stroke leadership for the organisation, runs TIA and movement disorders clinics, and provides a visiting geriatrician service to Hawera Hospital in South Taranaki on a weekly basis.
The successful applicant will: Join a team of four geriatricians working across a spectrum of settings including inpatient, outpatient, community visits and intermediate care.
Be part of a supportive multidisciplinary team including occupational therapists, physiotherapists, social workers, speech language therapists, dieticians and other medical specialties.

Mou - About you The ideal applicant will: Hold Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or equivalent.
Be eligible for an Annual Practising Certificate and vocational scope of Internal Medicine with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
Work with others to promote a cohesive team culture of collaborative practice, openness, humour, and respect across disciplines.
Demonstrate commitment to continuing medical education and professional development.
