About Us:
Join a dedicated team at Tairawhiti, where we prioritize health and well-being for our elderly population. We are seeking an experienced Geriatrician to play a pivotal role in our healthcare community, working alongside a diverse general medical team and the Te Ara Tiaki Pakeke (Healthy Aging Team).

Key Responsibilities:

Provide in-hospital consultative services for both surgical and medical services, including orthopedic patients and complex geriatric cases requiring capacity and pre-operative frailty assessments.

Oversee a dedicated rehabilitation team managing an 8-bed unit, ensuring high standards of care and rehabilitation outcomes.

Serve as the Lead Clinician for the Te Ara Tiaki Pakeke (Healthy Aging Team), driving initiatives and strategies that promote healthy aging within the community.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient care and develop comprehensive treatment plans.

Engage in clinical audits and quality improvement activities to ensure excellence in geriatric care.

Participate in the teaching and training of junior medical staff and allied health professionals.

As this is a new role in Tairawhiti, we invite you to help shape and develop the position further, allowing you the opportunity to lead initiatives that meet the evolving needs of our patients.

Work Hours:

Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day

No weekend or on-call responsibilities

Requirements:

Medical degree and board certification in Geriatrics or equivalent.

Proven experience in geriatric medicine, with strong clinical skills in managing complex cases.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with patients, families, and healthcare teams.

Commitment to holistic patient care and a passion for improving the quality of life for the elderly.

A collaborative mindset and ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary environment.
