Hauora Tairawhiti – Gisborne, North IslandThe remuneration range for this role is $185,380- $267,980 and is covered by the collective agreement: ASMS Snr Medical and Dental Officer CA.Position Description | Consultant AnaesthetistYour day to day responsibilities include:Pre-op anaesthesia clinicProvision of anaesthesia for elective and emergency surgeryParticipating in the peri-operative management of post-op patients on the ICU/ HDU and on the wardsPreparation of critically ill patients requiring transfer to tertiary centresAdvising on pain managementProviding out-of-hours anaesthesia services to maternity, critical care, theatres and the emergency departmentContributing to teaching for junior doctors and other disciplinesParticipating in the on-call rosterWe are looking to receive applications from Anaesthetists who are keen to work in a partnership with our Head of Department and other team members to create an effective and efficient service for the people of Tairawhiti.Minimum RequirementsCandidates applying for this position will need to hold:Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) vocational registration in the Scope of Practice of Anaesthesia or be an overseas trained Anaesthetist eligible for MCNZ Provisional Vocational registration in the Scope of Practice of Anaesthesia.Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) is favourable for New Zealand or Australian anaesthetists but non-essential for overseas applicants.Expertise in paediatric anaesthesia or Critical Care is favourable due to the increasing acuity and complexity of patients accessing our emergency and surgical services.About GisborneSituated on the eastern coast of New Zealand's North Island, Gisborne "Tairawhiti" – "The light shines on the water" is the first city in the world to see the rising sun of the new day.
