Job DescriptionThe Senior Construction/Project Engineer (Transmission Lines) manages the project and construction engineering function within the project team. The role is to undertake detailed engineering management and support to various Project Managers in project delivery. The position will be a part of a project team that manages the technical, procurement, material, construction, design coordination, site engineering support, and start-up and close-out items.
LeadershipInspire confidence and urgency within the group and across the Business Unit for the delivery of timely, high-quality service to internal and external customers.Mentor less experienced Construction/Project Engineers and provide guidance to ensure they develop into high functioning Construction/Project Engineers.ManagementEnsure compliance with relevant financial requirements, developing, implementing and operating budgets for management activities.Manage budgets within expected guidelines and service levels.Ensure commercial responsiveness and completeness are inherent in all aspects of the business unit's activities.TechnicalManage technical RFI responses – transmission lines.Determine project specifications and acquire the necessary materials for completion.Demonstrate a high-level technical understanding relevant to the role.Coordinate design responses for the construction of transmission lines.Apply technical knowledge to analyse construction issues for transmission lines.On-site support during the construction of transmission lines.Coordinate and manage the IFC designs in accordance with appropriate standards.Management of work as executed and as-built drawing processes.Maintain budgetary, scheduling, and project reporting oversight, and report regularly to project manager.Project ManagementAccountable for the delivery of projects where a Project Manager is not assigned (typically small to medium sized projects). This is in addition to providing Project Engineering services to other projects.Manage the execution of all phases of all directly assigned projects to achieve completion within agreed budget, time and accepted quality standards.Assist the Project Manager by providing support (technical or otherwise) to achieve project delivery goals.Stakeholder ManagementEstablish and maintain effective working relationships with all relevant internal and external stakeholders.Communicate and engage with project stakeholders including external consultants to provide specific inputs to the planning and development of the project.Responsible to manage, track and coordinate Project Delivery deliverables for development phase projects and feed this information to the project planner.Manage external customer design interface between internal designers, customers and construction contractor.Facilitate, run and report on external customer design interface meetings.Responsible for developing and coordinating customer acceleration requests.Systems & ReportingContribute to the preparation of monthly project status reports.Responsible for providing schedule, budget and risk updates to the project team on a monthly basis.Health, Safety and EnvironmentAll work is carried out in compliance with relevant legislation.The incumbent will need to travel within the state of NSW and possibly other states to attend site meetings and/or carry out coordination activities on various project sites. It is expected you have worked for a TNSP or DNSP in Electrical Engineering, preferably in transmission design.
