The Opportunity Our Consents team at the Otago Regional Council is looking for a Consents Planner, to join the team on a full time, fixed term basis (20 months) in our busy Dunedin or Alexandra office. The purpose of this position is to assist in the sustainable management of the Otago Region through evaluating and advising upon consent applications made to the Otago Regional Council (ORC) under the Resource Management Act (1991) and National Environmental Standards. While supporting the Environmental Delivery processes within the Otago Regional Council. As a Consents Planner, you will be responsible for: Managing and advising on the processing of resource consent applications, including the preparation of reports and associated documentation Providing information to enquirers about consent resources Providing and presenting reports to ORC management, committees and hearings Providing advice on best-practice in relation to consents process and analysis. Evaluating and preparing reports on consent applications If you are detail-oriented, proactive work well in a team environment and have a passion for sustainable management of our region, we would love to hear from you. About You Our ideal candidate will have: Tertiary qualification in Environmental or Applied Science, Planning, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Geography/ Earth Sciences or Agricultural Science Experience in provision of advisory services pertaining to the Resource Management Act and Local Government Act Exposure to advocating/negotiating with internal and external stakeholders Experience in interpretation and application of legislation Ability to work in a complex work environment, deal with ambiguity and across functions.
