An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent, full-time Consents Officer. You will be responsible for processing a wide variety of consent applications, including coastal activities, wastewater discharges, water takes, and land use activities. Other key activities will include providing advice to customers and managing enquiries.
The role involves assessing technical information, understanding legislation, and dealing with people on a day-to-day basis. You will be an excellent communicator who can provide a high level of customer service to internal and external clients and take responsibility for delivering results within a customer-centric environment. This role is based in our Whangarei Office; however, it comes with flexibility to work in one of our regional offices.
Do you have what it takes? We are looking for someone who can bring the following to our diverse talent pool:
A relevant tertiary qualification in an appropriate science subject e.g. geography, geology, marine or environmental sciences.Knowledge and experience in working with the Resource Management Act 1991 would be an advantage.Work experience relating to consent processing or environmental resources investigation, either in regional council, research institute, or industry.Excellent communication skills, both written (report writing) and verbal (discussions with customers).Displays cultural empathy and awareness.Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook.If you are a recent graduate looking for a new career in the environmental space, your application is most welcome.
