Technical Duties and Responsibilities in relation to mechanically polished concrete include but are not limited to:
• Grinding and polishing of concrete using machinery to produce mechanically polished concrete floors with a clear understanding of the process's Polished Concrete Central Ltd use.
• Understanding of the different polished concrete finishes achievable and the processes required to achieve the finish Natural surface polish (polish only) Salt and Pepper (light grind to reveal the fines only) Full Exposure (Heavy grind to see the full size of the aggregate)
• How to achieve high gloss and satin finish to the polished concrete floors.
• Understanding of applying concrete chemicals, such as lithium and potassium based hardeners and liquid grouts. Knowing when each is required in the polishing process and in what quantities
• Understanding of diamond tooling used to create mechanically polished concrete floors
• Understanding of concrete repair work to any damage in slabs to be polished including repairing of any holes / chips / crack and also stain removal of any contaminants that would become visible when the concrete is polished
• Preparation of job site prior to work commencing, site access for machinery, preparing the floor area to be ground prior to commencement of the polishing process
• Understaing of use of Guardboard for protection of the finished product for the reminder of the build process Other services Polished Concrete Central offer to clients that the candidate is expected to have knowledge of include;
• Preparing concrete surfaces by removing old floor coverings i.e. glue and tiles using concrete grinding machinery. filling holes and cracks, smoothing and sealing surfaces
• Decorative concrete acid washing and sealing
• Full understanding of concrete sealers including polyurethanes, polysparatics, 2 pot paints, outdoor and indoor sealers.
• Applying sealers to concrete floor surfaces using brushes, rollers and sprays
• Concrete floor clean, scratch and preparation for tiling, carpeting ad painting.
• Concrete floor levelling to tolerance required using a laser level. Manintenace of machinery
• Full understanding of the concrete grinding / polishing machinery being used, including remote operated grinders / polishers, dust extractors, generators
• Adjusting, repairing and maintaining machines and equipment.
• 3 phase machinery used, Husquvarna 690RC, Husqvarna 680RC, Husqvarna 510, Husqvarna 450, Husqvarna 280, Husquvana DC6000, Husqvarna D60
• Use of 9" and 5" Makita hand grinders and polishers
• Propane Burnisher and single phase Polyvac burnisher
Job Requirements
At least 3 years relevant experience.
Physically fit as heavy lifting is required.
Good communication skills.
This is a full time and permanent position. Work up to 45 hours per week with minimum guaranteed 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, some Saturdays maybe required, between the hours of 7:00am to 5pm. Pay rates from $29.66 to $30 per hour, depending on skills and experience.
