Mo Te Tari Pureke | About the Firearms Safety Authority The purpose ofTe Tari Pureke, Firearms Safety Authority business unit is to enable New Zealand to be a world leader in arms safety through an effective regulatory and administrative approach to the Arms Act and Arms Regulations. Established to lead, operate, and develop investment in modernisation of the firearms system, which will result in a more efficient and effective risk-based licensing system, and shall improve public confidence in the firearms licensing system. The modernisation of the Arms Regulatory System will take every opportunity to prevent harm through transparent, high quality, consistent, legislatively correct, and effective regulatory activities. This will also cover world leading administration, education, and promotion of compliance within the provisions of the Arms Act and Arms Regulations. Mo te tunga | About the role Te Tari Pureke regulates the Arms Act 1983 and Arms Regulations 1992 to promote and control the safe possession and use of firearms and other weapons. We are modernising how we do this by introducing new ways to improve regulatory outcomes and service experience. The role of a Compliance & Resolutions Officer is integral in ensuring regulatory and legislative requirements are met by our firearms licence community. The role supports overall regulatory compliance and delivers a high-quality service the public deserve and expect. This is an office-based position, and no firearms experience is required. Assess licence applications, permits and endorsements. Ensuring licence holders understand their responsibilities through education and intervention in order to improve compliance. Once trained, understand the application of improvement notices, prescribed conditions, warning letters, temporary suspensions, revocations, and refusals. Providing accurate and relevant Information and recommendations to decision makers. Ensuring compliance activities are completed in a timely, efficient, and effective manner. Maintain accurate and detailed records. What you'll bring: Being part of the Police whanau is about being our best to ensure our communities are safe and feel safe. Whilst we are looking for skills, knowledge, and experience relevant to the role, we also place high importance on your state of mind, the alignment of your values with ours. Specifically, you will bring: Good computer and great writing skills. Excellent time management and the ability to work in a busy environment with frequent interruptions. Ability to understand and read New Zealand legislation (once trained) to do so. The capability to build relationships both internally and externally. Solid interpersonal skills and self -confidence.
