About the Role
We have an opportunity available to join our Northern Region regional team as a Compliance Officer . This is a permanent, full-time role critical in delivering compliance activities related to the NPHS strategic agenda for Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) with compliance activities related to the Smokefree Environments and Regulated Products Act 1990 and the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012.
Working with various key stakeholders, you will monitor targeted, evidence-based regional compliance activity. You will also be responsible for monitoring and maintaining nationally consistent and effective systems/processes for regional delivery and reporting of compliance activity, including the development of national standards of practice.
This role is based in the Northland.
About the Team/Service/Location
The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora works towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered, and locally tailored.
About you
You are a subject matter expert relevant to this role. You're able to demonstrate self-awareness of your impact on people and invest in your own leadership practice to continuously grow and improve. You bring with you previous experience that will help you lead confidently in this role. You are someone with strong problem-solving and analytical skills combined with an ability to quickly assimilate new information.
Skills and Experience
A relevant graduate and post-graduate qualification desired
Relevant experience in a regulator/compliance sector specific to the job and work demands
Subject matter expertise in regulatory approaches and/or Smokefree and Regulated Products and Sale and Supply of Alcohol legislation
Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with other Agencies and Public Health teams
Experience in an advisory role, applying critical thinking and using sound judgement to develop options and provide advice
Full, New Zealand Drivers' licence
Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
Experience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings desired
