We are building a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whanau-centred care, and excellence.About the RoleWe have an opportunity available to join our Northern Region regional team as a Compliance Officer. This is a permanent, full-time role critical in delivering compliance activities related to the NPHS strategic agenda for Pae Ora (Healthy Futures), including compliance with the Smokefree Environments and Regulated Products Act 1990 and the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012.In this role, you will monitor targeted, evidence-based regional compliance activity and maintain nationally consistent and effective systems/processes for regional delivery and reporting of compliance activity, including the development of national standards of practice.About the Team/Service/LocationThe National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, aims for Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered, and locally tailored.About YouYou are a subject matter expert relevant to this role with strong problem-solving and analytical skills. You have previous experience that will help you lead confidently in this role and demonstrate self-awareness of your impact on people.Skills and ExperienceRelevant experience in a regulator/compliance sector.Subject matter expertise in regulatory approaches and/or Smokefree and Regulated Products and Sale and Supply of Alcohol legislation.Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with other agencies and public health teams.Experience in an advisory role, applying critical thinking and using sound judgement to provide advice.Full, New Zealand Drivers' licence.Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori, or a commitment to starting your journey in this area.Experience in projects/initiatives that give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches in healthcare settings is desired.Working for Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of Aotearoa/New Zealand.
