The Compelled Access Team sits within GCSB's Intelligence Directorate, and is responsible for obtaining intelligence from network operators and service providers using Part 2 of the Telecommunications (Interception Capability and Security) Act (TICSA).
For the Compelled Access Operator, we are looking for motivated individuals who can contribute to delivering, maintaining and enhancing these relationships to meet customer needs.The Compelled Access Operator sits on the front end of intelligence collection, and involves advising on and developing a range of exciting capabilities and technologies that support GCSB in its intelligence mission.
An operator will have a willingness to learn and solve complex problems, and a desire to develop an understanding of the technology underpinning modern telecommunications networks.
Teamwork is important so you will enjoy working in a collaborative environment with a wide range of enthusiastic and smart people.
You will also need to regularly collaborate with network operators and service providers to achieve mission outcomes so relationship management skills will be needed.We are ideally looking for one senior operator (Level 2-3) to provide technical expertise on all Compelled Access functions.
Ideally this operator will be an expert on the telecommunications industry and/or have an excellent understanding of intelligence collection practices.Who we're looking forTo be successful in this role, you will have strong attention to detail and the desire to learn new skills, and the ability to accurately identify, analyse and solve difficult problems that is enabled through some combination of the following:A tertiary qualification, preferably with a technical focus such as engineering, telecommunications or computer science, information or science technology, or equivalent learning through experience;Experience managing relationships with a variety of stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes.Experience working within the telecommunications industry or alternatively a good understanding of intelligence collection practices;The ability to adapt to an operational environment in which compliance and security are key.Before you applyWorking within our unique environment means we have to ensure you're eligible for employment.You must:Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 yearsORHold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 yearsBe eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearanceOrdinarily, this means you'll have a 15 year checkable background in countries NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks.The NZIC treats all applications for employment in the strictest confidence and we expect that you maintain a similar level of confidentiality during the recruitment process and throughout your career.Interview to take place from late January 2025.Employer: Government Communications Security BureauNote: You may be redirected to the employer's careers website.
