Pact is currently looking for a PART TIME Community Support Worker for our youth service in the Greymouth area
The Role
Pact is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic person to work alongside our rangatahi who experience challenges with their mental health. We are looking for someone who will inspire, encourage, be a role model and have excellent interpersonal skills and a 'can do' attitude.
This role will have a strong focus on client goals and outcomes, and you will assist the young people in the service in achieving maximum independence.
The successful candidate will be passionate about supporting youth with a history of challenging behaviours, and providing a meaningful, supportive and educational environment for rangatahi. Further assisting in gaining social, health, education, whanau and cultural reconnection.
Your days may vary, but will consist of:
Engaging with clients.
Setting and achieving individual personal goals.
Encouraging client participation in day to day life.
Supporting them with activities of daily living.
Ensuring support with medication and considering client needs.
Supporting clients with personal hygiene.
Activities within the community.
Supporting social and whanau connection.
Motivating clients to know they have purpose.
Ensuring client processes are accurately documented.
Most importantly, supporting them to have fun and live fulfilling lives.
At present, hours of work are: 64 Hours Per Fortnight - 8am-4pm Sunday - Wednesday (shift time is subject to change due to clients' needs).
As we operate 24/7, hours of work will include day, evening, weekend and sleepover shifts.
Desired Skills and Experience
Excellent communication and networking skills and the ability to build and sustain working relationships with clients, staff and external agencies is essential. Previous professional experience in the mental health field and experience of working with child and youth clients will be an advantage.
A level 4 or other relevant qualification in mental health is desirable but not essential. Otherwise, there is an expectation that you will be willing to start working towards obtaining a level 4 mental health qualification after your first year of employment.
A full driver's licence and computer skills are essential.
If on a work visa, this must be valid for at least twelve months.
Must be available for an interview in Greymouth .
