Community Support Worker - Supported Independent Living - Auckland Part Time, 17 hours Salary: $23.38 - $29.10 per hour
Location: Mount Albert, Auckland
Our client is a young man with a strong passion for cheffing and keen to realise his dreams in making it in the food industry. He enjoys being social and loves anything Marvel related. He is wanting to build up connections, work on a routine and become more active in his community.
In Supported Independent Living, we provide services for adults with physical and intellectual disabilities within their own homes and out into their community. We provide 1:1 support which consists of a range of hours between 6am to 9pm, Monday to Sunday.
Responsibilities: Assist with daily activities such as community participation, socializing, work or education, personal cares, and domestic chores.Report and handle administration duties.Skills & Experience: Empathy for the challenges of trying to build an ordinary life while living with a disability.Energy to keep up with someone who likes to be on the go.Ability to remain calm, and calming, in all situations.Resilience to help people keep boundaries to ensure their safety.Good at explaining and negotiating.Ability to communicate effectively and supportively with family, colleagues, and the person you support.Willingness to provide support and motivation with personal cares and daily living skills.The ideal candidate will have: An interest in attaining a Community Support Worker Level Three or above qualification.Experience supporting people with disabilities, and/or mental health issues, and/or behaviours that can be challenging is desirable but not necessary.Reliability, commitment, and passion for working with people.A full New Zealand driver's licence.Able to pass a NZ police check.The ability to use a computer effectively, including programs such as Word, Internet Explorer, and email.If you're interested in supporting people to develop self-confidence and independence, and live their lives of choice in their own communities, then we want to hear from you today!
