Community Services and Injury Prevention Coordinator - InvercargillHere at Whanau Awhina Plunket, our community services provide supplementary support to our clinical teams to support holistic whanau wellness, provide helpful services and supporting stronger community bonds.We're seeking a dynamic Community Services and Injury Prevention Coordinator to join our Southland team as we rebuild our community services on a part time (25 hours per week) permanent basis. This role is based in Invercargill and will involve travel around the Southland region in a Plunket vehicle. The days and hours worked can be negotiated.Our Community Services and Injury Prevention Coordinators wear two hats – they ensure our community-based initiatives such as our parenting groups and programmes run smoothly, and our volunteers are well supported. You will have the opportunity to build connections with local community groups to develop initiatives that promote healthy, confident whanau and pepi.In addition, injury prevention involves supporting whanau to keep tamariki safe from unintentional injury. Your focus will be working in partnership with whanau to understand risk and support them to develop strategies that keep their child safe. You will work in collaboration with our Plunket Nurses, Kaiawhina, Health workers and our community partners to deliver services to local communities.This hybrid role requires a degree of flexibility which could be the perfect match for your needs. Working with different groups and with volunteers means that the day to day needs will change, but the mahi also allows flexibility to work from the office and home.The pay rate for this role is $27.80 per hour.To thrive in this role, you will have a passion for working with tamariki, be confident in engaging with local groups and be able to effectively build relationships with whanau. You will have had prior experience working in a role where you built positive relationships and were able to understand needs before working towards a solution.We're open to a variety of backgrounds, as long as you bring the passion for advancing and promoting services which will make a genuine difference to whanau.While prior Child Restraint experience would be fantastic, if you are eager to learn new practical skills and willing to undertake Child Restraint Technician training, we will pay for your qualification.There is a fair level of fitness required as you will be lifting child restraints and climbing into cars.You will also have:Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Confidence to work both independently and within a team environment.Commitment to work in a manner that reflects the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.If you're seeking to work for an organisation that values improving society, join us at Whanau Awhina Plunket.
