This team will specialise in the "planning" phase of community projects – including scoping, initial design work, accurate budgeting, detailed plans with milestones, communications and risk management plans.
The execution of these plans are then delivered by our project delivery team.
This role will work collaboratively with our existing community leadership, project delivery, communications and community facilities teams.
Leading a team of two, this role reports to the Group Manager Customer and Community Wellbeing.Responsibilities will include:Define the scope, objectives, and expected deliverables of community projects in line with community needs and goals.Develop detailed project plans outlining milestones, timelines, and resource requirements, ensuring compliance with Council policies and relevant legislation.Ensure strong engagement with all stakeholders during the planning phase of projects.Manage budgets and related expenditures, evaluating project feasibility through effective analysis and resource planning.Implement continuous improvement initiatives, provide expert advice, and stay informed about emerging trends to enhance community impact.Create and sustain a high-performance environment by motivating and coaching staff to achieve organizational, team, and individual goals.Have a qualification in project management and/or project methodology (i.e.
6Sigma, LEAN) preferred, with at least 5 years of project management or project planning experience.Demonstrated leadership skills to develop a high-performing team, with the ability to motivate and empower others.Be experienced in project scoping and planning for both small and large-scale projects, with experience in budget management and an understanding of land economics and development feasibility.Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to influence and negotiate desirable outcomes with stakeholders.Skills in sourcing and analyzing information, adapting to new technologies, and quickly assimilating technical information into audience-appropriate language.What's in it for you?This is a unique opportunity to lead a newly created team within Council that interprets the vision for our community projects.We recognise that staff are our most valuable asset.
