JOB TITLE: Happipad Community Outreach Ambassador
Wage: $25/hour for a total of 450 hours between October 2024 and April 2025, anticipated to be approximately 15 hours per week.
JOB SUMMARY As a Community Outreach Ambassador, you will be pivotal in launching and promoting Happipad to address interim workforce housing needs in Nelson and RDCK Areas E and F. You will work with Community Futures Central Kootenay and the Nelson & Area Economic Development Partnership.
Happipad is a Canadian social enterprise dedicated to addressing Canada's affordable housing crisis. Happipad connects hosts with compatible renters for home sharing, offering a safe, reliable, and intuitive platform for hosts to rent out their spare rooms and for renters to find affordable housing solutions.
This position is for a full-time student based in Nelson & area and will be supported by a subsidy from the Columbia Basin Trust School Works Program. Applicants must be a full-time student. The successful candidate will be required to sign a Student Wage agreement.
Key Responsibilities Develop and implement a promotion, communication, and outreach plan to drive Happipad uptake with a focus on signing up hosts. Attend community events and engage in outreach to raise awareness and generate leads. Conduct home visits to prospective hosts to introduce them to the Happipad platform and explain the benefits of hosting, take photos, and help hosts create their rental listings. Coordinate with Happipad and stakeholders on marketing and promotional activities. Perform other promotional and outreach tasks as needed. Track performance metrics and report on the effectiveness and impact of the project. Education and/or Work Experience Completion of three or more years of study in social work, health care, or a related field, or equivalent work experience is preferred. Education or experience in business, marketing, communications, sales, or a similar area is also acceptable. Experience building relationships and working with seniors is an asset. Comfortable using technology; experience helping others with technology is an asset. Experience in marketing, outreach, sales, or promotional roles is an asset. Qualifications Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds. Proven experience in sales, marketing, or community outreach roles, with a track record of achieving targets and driving results. Self-motivated and goal-oriented, with a passion for making a positive impact in the community. Familiarity with the local community and knowledge of housing-related issues and trends is a plus. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively, while also being a team player who can collaborate with colleagues across departments. Job Requirements Reliable vehicle or access to transportation for home visits and outreach activities required. Access to a personal computer with Microsoft Office and a suitable home workspace.
