This role is a community based role, working within an interdisciplinary team that works collaboratively to support patients through equipment, modification and rehab solutions to maximise their independence at home.
There will also be a rehabilitation component to this role as well when required - working in a rehabilitative way to improve patients well-being.
This role also offers growth opportunity for those Occupational Therapists that would potentially like to expand their practice within Wheeled Mobility provision and/or joining our Triage and Early Response component of our team - which offers variety and diversity in the role.
Mo to matou ropu - About our team The ORA Community Services work with people with acquired neurological, long term, or age-related conditions including stroke, dementia, frailty and post trauma conditions.
The teams are multidisciplinary including Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech-language Therapists, Social Workers, Dietitians, Liaison Nurses and Allied Health Assistants, with close links with Nurse Practitioners, Geriatricians and a Rehabilitation Physician.
There are three community teams geographically located in Wellington, Porirua and Kapiti.
We offer on-going professional development opportunities including inter-professional practice training, professional support, profession specific training though the relevant professional leaders and clinical supervision.
Cultural professional supervision is available from Maori and Pacific Health teams.
Mou - About you We are looking for an Occupational Therapist who has a broad range of skills with an interest in working in a community setting to assist individuals and families to manage the impact of diagnosis and/or long-term health conditions.
An understanding of Enable processes would be a strong advantage.
You will have sound clincial skills and experience working with older adults and thrive in a team environment.
We require you to bring your holistic skills, enthusiasm and passion to achieve the best outcome for your patients.
You will have current registration/APC and a current New Zealand driver - s license.
You will be able to demonstrate ability to build rapport with patient and whanau from all backgrounds and have a clear understanding of the health needs of our Maori and Pacific Island communities.
