Vaka Tautua is a national Pacific health and social services provider. With offices in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin. We support families and individuals to make positive impacts.
We deliver mental health, disability, older peoples, social services and financial capability services for Pacific peoples in Aotearoa. Our mission is to promote and advance the physical and mental wellbeing of Pacific peoples in Aotearoa.
Job DescriptionAbout the role We are seeking a passionate individual to work within our mental health team.
Permanent/Fulltime (40 hours)Work across the Kapiti and Capital Coast region out of our Porirua officeWork laptop and mobileThe Community Support Worker works within our Mental Health services, working with people who experience mild to moderate mental distress. You will work in a flexible, mobile service across the Wellington region.
Working with the individual and their family you will develop plans that are:
Recovery-focused, and enable the services user to lead their own recoveryProvide choice, promote independence, and value diversityPerson-centred and responsive to the individual service user's needsAligned to community developmentAim to have a family systems/aiga philosophy and approach to facilitate ongoing recovery.This role is not a carers role; this role works with individuals to work towards their goals and aspirations.
Desired Skills and ExperienceAbout you A passionate person who wants to work with the community.
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of a Pacific culture with the ability to translate this across the wider Pacific community.An NZQA qualification in mental health and addictions or an equivalent qualification (or working towards these).Satisfy all necessary requirements for working with vulnerable children and adults including requirements in relation to police vetting.Computer literate including the Microsoft suite.A clean, full NZ Driver Licence.Strong communication skills (verbal and written) in English and one or more Pacific languages.Experience working in a Pacific community setting.Knowledge and understanding of mental health and addiction issues.Strong network and relationship stakeholder management.Eligible to work in New Zealand.A clean police record.Apply now: If you have the right experience, attitude, and a passion for people, this is your opportunity to make a positive difference for our Pacific peoples.
