Community Mentor / Rangatahi Youth Worker

R13 Youth Development Trust – Kaiapoi, South Island At R13 Youth Development Trust, we want to play a part in supporting all young Rangatahi to feel great about their futures. We believe in the importance of community, connection, and relationships - and in the ability of young people to shape their own futures.Due to an increase in demand for our services, we are currently looking to employ a Community Mentor / Rangatahi Youth Worker for 30 to 40 hours per week.About YouIf you're passionate about youth and want to make a real impact, this is your chance. You'll need to build genuine relationships with Rangatahi, creating a safe and nurturing environment where Rangatahi feel supported.You will be working with young people planning a suite of activities and programmes individually designed to help them meet goals.A full New Zealand driver's license is required for this position.While having previous experience is a bonus, your passion and drive to help young people succeed is what truly matters.Experience/Skills RequiredStrong engagement with Rangatahi / youth and government agencies.Operational knowledge of child development and youth mentoring.Good understanding of adolescent behaviour.Knowledge of legislation associated with working with Rangatahi.Social Worker / Counselling qualifications would be an advantage but not essential.Please note, under the Children's Act, the successful candidate will be required to undergo Police Vetting as a condition of employment.Applications Close: Friday 25th October 2024.
