Genesis recently announced our new Gen35 strategy as we look to accelerate New Zealand's transition to a low-carbon future. We are undertaking a $1.1 billion investment programme in new renewable generation, to make Genesis 95% renewable by 2035 with around 8,300 GWh. In addition, we have set a target of reaching net zero as a company by 2040. With such a lofty mission and bold goals, we are on the lookout for the right talent to help us deliver.
About the role: Genesis is privileged to operate power schemes in some of the most special locations across Aotearoa. We strive to work proactively within our local communities to identify and deliver strategic projects and community-based initiatives that benefit the communities where we operate. You will support Genesis play an active, connected and visible role in these local communities. You will manage important workstreams, including the coordination of sponsorships and key partnerships, team volunteering initiatives, and a key focus of your role will be delivering our Nga Ara Creating Pathways programme.
Nga Ara is all about creating meaningful education, training and employment pathways for young people in these local communities. The programme is focussed on attracting, nurturing and engaging rangatahi in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) education, study and career pathways. You'll be responsible for coordinating and managing the initiatives of the programme, including scholarships, work experience, internships and apprenticeships, holding engaging events for rangatahi and liaising with partnering secondary schools and other organisations. You'll work closely with our Wholesale leadership teams, site-based teams and internal stakeholders across Genesis, as well as continue to grow and deepen external community partnerships.
You'll have one direct report and be based mostly out of our Kenehi on Bryce Hamilton office, or alternatively could be based at our Huntly or Tokaanu Power Stations. There is a reasonable amount of travel required to our generation sites, including Huntly Power Station and the Tongariro, Waikaremoana and Tekapo Power Schemes.
About you: You're a dynamic individual and a natural communicator who can easily develop relationships with key stakeholders. You can identify opportunities and work flexibly to adapt to changing needs and priorities. In addition, you'll need to have the following:

Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar industry-based role, the public or community sectors.
Proven stakeholder engagement and relationship management experience with the ability to influence and engage.
Strong communication, presentation and facilitation skills and be comfortable speaking to large and diverse audiences.
Tertiary or other qualification in education, social science, business or communications.
Knowledge of Te Ao Maori and understanding of Tikanga Maori will be highly regarded.

Our culture: Genesis is proud to be an inclusive workplace; we celebrate difference and diversity and aim to empower our employees. We're a business built on innovation and optimism; a place where we value our people and provide opportunities for them to build outstanding careers and a better New Zealand. Create your world of tomorrow, at Genesis.
