Our client Tuwharetoa ki Kawerau Hauora are looking for a Community Health Worker to join their team. Established in 1995, our client provides a range of appropriate, accessible and sustainable health, education and social services that improves the well-being of Iwi and the wider community for all who reside within Kawerau and the Eastern Bay of Plenty region.
He aha te tunga | About the role
Working closely alongside the Registered Nurses across all areas of nursing services provided by Te Whare Haumau Nurse-led clinic, this role delivers patient care under supervision by a Registered Nurse. This full-time role also supports the overall smooth running of the clinic.
Key responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

General administration and reception cover
Provide support to the nurses with home and clinic appointments
Manage clinic appointment bookings
Prepare health packs and care packs as directed
Ordering of stock and supplies
Coordination of Mama and pepi programme and wananga haputanga
Health care promotion and education
Reporting

Nga pukenga me whai | The ideal candidate requirements:

Current First Aid Certificate
Knowledge of tikanga/kawa as a minimum along with the ability to successfully work within a Maori organisation
Clean full NZ Drivers Licence
Able to develop working relationships with whanau, internal and external stakeholders
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Working knowledge of Medtech
Excellent computer literacy skills, with proficiency in all Microsoft Office functions
Excellent organisational and time management skills
High attention to detail
A commitment to safe work practices
Empathy, showing respect for clients and their whanau
Knowledge and awareness of tikanga Maori culture and history, and an understanding of Te Reo Maori is desirable
