Community Garden Crop Production & Manager Assistant

Part-Time Crop Production, Volunteer & Mgr Support : Christchurch South Community Gardens Trust
Minimum 4 hrs/week.
Saturday (4hrs – 10am – 2pm).
Opportunity for more work over time - show us you are reliable and can commit to learning the ropes and have great skills and energy to offer.
Location: On our main community garden site at 188 Strickland St, Sydenham and other off-site projects as required.
The role will help facilitate the trust's goal of developing a resource which contributes effectively and authentically to neighbourhood sustainability in all its forms.
Key Responsibilities include:

Participation in and working alongside volunteers and other staff engaged in compost production, crop and nursery production.
Record-keeping – participation, waste/recycling/crop production.
Public relations – visitor requests, sales, market days, tours, workshops.
Managing repairs & maintenance of outdoor and indoor facilities.
Tidying and organising sheds and outdoor recycling and collection areas.
Grant writing: production expenses / R&M.
Skills & Personal attributes include:

Enthusiastic about community horticultural production – especially annual vegetable crops.
Physically able to carry out general gardening duties including compost production.
Can safely use hand and power tools.
Excellent communication skills and standard of literacy and numeracy.
IT skills.
Approachable & reliable.
High degree of maturity and personal integrity required.
Excellent boundaries, diligence, and commitment required.
Can follow instructions, retain information, and work alone.
Social work skills.
