If so, you could be just the person Whangarei District Council is looking for.
Here at Whangarei District Council, our continually developing culture is built around principles of delivering for our customers, our tikanga, and working collaboratively with our community. To support us in our efforts, we are looking for a Community Engagement Adviser who will provide community engagement and consultation support to our Infrastructure Departments and other operational areas of Whangarei District Council. Additionally, they will connect people with Whangarei District Council, helping to ensure Council projects and planning effectively meet the needs of our community.
Working from our centrally located, state-of-the-art civic facility, our ideal candidate will have experience developing and implementing engagement, consultation, and communications programmes and have the ability to develop effective relationships with hapu, community, and stakeholder groups.
To be successful in securing this highly sought-after role, you'll also need to demonstrate:
A tertiary qualification in communications, social sciences, or public policy or IAP2 Certificate of Engagement.
Knowledge (or ability to develop knowledge) of LGOIMA, Local Government Act, and other relevant legislation.
Ability to effectively facilitate and mediate between the Council and the community.
Experience of managing public consultation and engagement processes.
Experience in facilitating conversations with communities across a broad demographic.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong organisational and project management skills.
