Job Title: Communications Manager - Parental Leave Cover - 8 months

The purpose of this role is to lead the communications team to deliver high-quality communications that align with strategic objectives within the organisation, across multiple project workstreams.

Coming in on a parental cover term, you will be part of the wider Communications & Engagement team and will be tasked with delivery of the following:
Advise communications and engagement teams on communications messaging, to ensure alignment to organisational strategic direction.Oversee the planning and delivery of communications to residents and stakeholders regarding the development programme and development projects.Work with the Senior Content Specialist and the Communications and Marketing Lead to develop communication strategies, alongside the GM Engagement and Communications and external agencies, where necessary.Oversee the development and implementation of a digital strategy for digital platforms and channels.Build strong effective relationships with media, including mainstream, Maori and Pasifika media.Proactively research and pitch stories to relevant media and build our reputation as the 'go to' spokespeople, in Tamaki and beyond, for our core business areas.Provide advice to the business on media matters and management. The right candidate for this role will bring the following essential skills: Minimum 7-10 years' experience in a creative lead, production agency, communications or 'marcomms' role.Excellent relationship building and leadership skills.Advanced writing skills, producing great copy and stories.Experience in working at pace to meet deadlines.Ability with designing and implementing communications campaigns.Depth of lived experience in Te Ao Maori or Pasifika (preferred). Preferred: A connection to Tamaki.Knowledge and understanding of tikanga Maori.Experience working in complex or political environments.Qualification in communications, marketing or another related field.Experience successfully working with and communicating to diverse communities and cultures – specifically Maori and Pasifika. Key competencies are: Leadership capability.Cultural awareness and understanding.Communication – strong written and verbal skills.Project Management – planning and execution to deadline.Analytical ability and sound judgement.
