Add expected salary to your profile for insightsOur vision: 'Empowering the autistic and autism communities'Our purpose:'Every Step Together'- providing services and support, education and information to allow autistic people and the wider autism community to make informed choices.ROLE PURPOSEThe Communications Manager is the key person responsible for the oversight and management of the organisation's communication and marketing activities.This includes the effective delivery of Autism New Zealand's marketing and communication plan, including the overall management of all internal and external communications and brand guidelines.The Communications Manager has overall responsibility for:The Autism New Zealand brand guidelines.The Autism New Zealand website and social media.Fundraising and marketing campaigns.Awareness and advocacy campaigns.Media enquiries (as the first point of contact).Communication to the Autism New Zealand membership.Internal communication channels.Developing and maintaining relationships with the autistic and autism communities – parents of autistic children/adults, autistic individuals and the wider community.ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES1. Management of Autism New Zealand's marketing and communications planBe the champion for Autism New Zealand's Marketing and Communications plan.Develop an advertising campaign to raise public knowledge of autism.Deliver a monthly email with content directing readers to the Autism New Zealand's website.Identify potential members to establish contact and convert into members.Develop an annual event, to bring the autistic community and media together.Review website content for relevancy and conduct regular website analysis.Issue press releases and engage PR services to strengthen media relations.Create a social media schedule, using different platforms to engage audiences.Introduce market research to measure the impact of activity over time.As required, work with the Senior Leadership Team to deliver market research.Be the first point of contact for all media enquiries.Develop an Autism New Zealand media pack to be developed and sent to all appropriate media contacts.Write all media releases for Autism New Zealand.Approve all media interactions for Autism New Zealand staff.3. Brand guidelinesCarry out research on Autism New Zealand's brand including engagement for the autistic community, Maori and other cultures.Review and update the Autism New Zealand brand guidelines.Oversee and manage the use of the Autism New Zealand brand.Review and update all Autism New Zealand publications based on the updated brand guidelines (including all national and regional communication).Work with the Business Manager and Chief Executive on developing any fundraising activities for Autism New Zealand.Manage fundraising activities for Autism New Zealand.Facilitate meetings and networking opportunities to fundraise for Autism New Zealand.5. Internal communicationsOversee and manage all internal communication channels including Microsoft Teams and internal newsletters.Maintain regular and consistent communication with Autism New Zealand staff, increasing visibility of work and projects across different areas of the organisation.Implement initiatives to increase staff engagement.PERSON SPECIFICATIONKnowledge and experience of autismFamiliar with writing content for target audiencesKnowledge of and experience in branding, in terms of both building brands through communications activity and maintaining brand consistencyComfort engaging audiences online, including through websites and social mediaExperience working with designers to create written publications, such as annual reportsSome experience, if not highly familiar, with market research and public relationsIdeally some experience using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems and working with advertising agencies to deliver public campaignsIdeally, a tertiary qualificationCommitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
