About the roleInterested in demystifying economics and shifting the narrative to transform the economic system to one designed around the wellbeing of its people and nature?
The Wellbeing Economy Alliance (WEAll) Aotearoa is looking for a Communications Lead to join our small team, working alongside the Director and Knowledge and Engagement Lead to deliver an exciting and transformative programme of work.We are looking for a smart and dynamic team player who is passionate about using messages and narratives to help build a broad-based movement.
You will be committed to the aims and objectives of WEAll and to honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi.You will take a leadership role in shaping and sharing WEAll Aotearoa's messages.
You have a background in communications and are comfortable maintaining a range of relationships across all levels of organisations.
You will already have a number of good relationships with NZ media, which you'll continue to build and sustain to maximise the profile of our work.You will create (and support the creation of) content for external events and the media, by working with the staff team, trustees, patrons and volunteers, as well as designing and hosting events, seminars and press conferences.
You will also manage our social media channels using your communications and social media skills, and maintain and continually improve our website.WEAll Aotearoa has a strong and growing public profile and you will help us build this and reach the public and key stakeholders from business, government and civil society as well as sharing Wellbeing Economy messages through a variety of channels.Key ResponsibilitiesWorking alongside the Director to develop and deliver a communications strategy for the Wellbeing Economy Alliance AotearoaDevelop key messages and narratives and track usage, including through polling and media analysisLead media outreach including writing press releases and writing and co-writing opinion articlesLead WEAll Aotearoa's social media engagement across various platforms (currently LinkedIn, Facebook, X and Instagram)Develop WEAll Aotearoa's website including posting updates and blogsWrite and share WEAll Aotearoa's panui newsletterCollaborate with WEAll Aotearoa's partners to influence policy debates, shape public narratives and advance policy agendaPromote Wellbeing Economy messages to various levels of government, other policy audiences and the public including the preparation of online and offline resourcesWork with the team to drive campaignsSupport evaluation and monitoring across our projectsLiaise with Global team and other HubsContribute to strategic planning and setting goals for WEAll Aotearoa's workKey Skills and ExperienceKnowledge of new economic ideas and concepts, and a willingness to learn more in this spaceExcellent communications skills and strategic and tactical thinkingMedia experience and relationshipsExperience managing social media platforms and growing engagementExperience in updating websites and sending out newslettersAbility to translate complex messages into those which are easy to understand, and which are applicable to a range of individuals and organisationsExcellent self-organisation, time and project management skillsConfident and capable communicator, both in writing and in presentationsAn understanding of diversity and inclusion work and commitment to tackling all institutional forms of oppression and exclusionAn understanding of the relationship between the economy and planetary boundariesIdeally but not essential:Experience in monitoring and evaluation of projectsDesign and photography skillsWorking arrangements:The contractor will work remotely at their own location.
If based in Wellington, the team co-works two days a week in the CBD.The contractor will provide their own laptop/computer and phone, for the purposes of WEAll work.Location: Hybrid/Remote with preference for WellingtonContract type: Self Employed ContractRemuneration & Hours: $100,000 pro rated to 3-4 days/week (24-32 hours)Contract length: Fixed term contract for twelve months with extension subject to reviewReporting to: DirectorManages: No management responsibilityApplications close: 18 OctoberTo apply please email your CV and Cover Letter to ****** with 'Communications Lead' in the subject line.
