Communications Director - Green Leaders' Office at Parliamentary Service, Wellington - Wairarapa Mo te tunga - About the role In the Communications Director role, you will be the primary advisor to the party co-leaders and Caucus on all public communications. This includes connecting Green MPs and policies with the public through online and offline media and developing and implementing communications strategies. You'll have day-to-day oversight of all public communications and lead a small team of press secretaries and social media creatives.
Reporting to the Chief of Staff, and working alongside the Policy & Research Director, Outreach Director, and Kaitohu te Matawaka, you will play an active role in the management of the Green Party's parliamentary operation. Political risk management is a key component of the role.
To kete - What you will bring to the role We are looking for someone with advanced political and strategic nous, and a network of existing relationships across the media landscape. Ideally you will have 5-10+ years' experience in senior communications or journalism roles, and relevant qualifications.
Leading a team of five to six direct reports means previous staff management experience is a must. Coaching and investing in the professional development of your team is important, as is sharing your skills and experience with the Caucus and broader staff team.
A strong understanding of Green Party principles and their relationship to one another, and knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Te ao Maori will be an advantage.

All employees who work for Political Party Offices are employed on an 'events based' agreement, with your employment linked to the party co-leaders. This role is based in Wellington, for 40 hours a week, with some flexibility required. Travel is required from time-to-time.
