You'll play a pivotal role in telling our story through crafting engaging content to connect with a diverse range of audiences. You'll provide expert advice on internal and external communications, manage media relations, and help develop strategies that amplify the Council's presence.What You'll Do:Use your creativity and problem-solving skills to create and deliver innovative and inspirational communication plans for diverse Council projects.Craft relatable content for our digital platforms, from social media to our website, that speaks directly to our audience, keeping our community engaged, connected, and informed.Ensure consistent messaging is delivered across the board.Cultivate strong relationships with media, event organisers, our vibrant community, and other stakeholders.Promote the Waimate district and show what makes it special.What Skills You'll Bring:A relevant tertiary qualification in communications, journalism, or a related field OR at least two years' experience in a similar role.Exceptional writing skills with the ability to create engaging, accessible content that resonates with diverse audiences.Strong relationship-building abilities—you're a people person, able to work with a wide range of teams and stakeholders.A proactive, can-do attitude with an eye for detail, even when juggling multiple projects.Excellent time management, research, and collaboration skills.Creativity, the ability to problem-solve and a knack for turning challenges into opportunities.What We Offer:Waimate is a great place to live, with affordable housing, fantastic schools, and the natural beauty of Aoraki/Mt Cook, the Waitaki Lakes, and the ocean just a stone's throw away.
