Reporting to the General Manager Destination, Marketing and Communications, you will lead the planning and delivery of WellingtonNZ's communications and media activity through compelling storytelling and effective communications that positively enhance Wellington as a destination.
You will be responsible for driving positive earned media from key programmes, including hosting travel/lifestyle and general media visits to Wellington from international and domestic markets.From supporting Wellington's iconic screen sector and showcasing a range of iconic events to attracting manuhiri and international media to explore our region, every day is filled with new opportunities.Day to day, you will be responsible for:Managing the planning and delivery of communications and media activity;People leadership for the Senior Communications Advisor and the Communications and Engagement Specialist;Identifying and pitching stories that help drive positive consideration of Wellington;Holding effective relationships with media that enhance the reputation of WellingtonNZ;Leading the travel and general media programme to showcase the Wellington region;Developing communications strategies that drive positive engagement with partners.About youYou have a passion and flair for communications that engage and compel audiences.
You are a great communicator with proven experience working in media and communications and enjoy working across a variety of programmes.
You will be a strategic thinker with a can-do attitude, able to proactively pitch and seize tactical opportunities as they arise, and are not afraid to put in the mahi to ensure Wellington is seen as a progressive city and region.As an innovative and can-do communications and media professional, you will bring with you:Experience in driving successful media and communications;Ability to pitch stories across all forms of media and drive PR in domestic and international media;Experience managing reputational risks;Ability to work collaboratively across different teams and partners;An analytical, results-oriented, and solutions-focused approach, comfortable working to tight deadlines;Team leadership and proven stakeholder engagement experience;A passion for Te Upoko o Te Ika, its people, events, and businesses!RemunerationRemuneration for this role will be based on the skill set and competencies that the successful applicant brings to the role.
